Taxol (chemical name: paclitaxel)

My boyfriend thought his shoulder pain was due to pulling some muscles. After a couple of months of it getting worse…he thought …oh my Lord…I bet I have a torn rotor-cuff. We only wish it was so…
He went from those thoughts to the doctors finding a tumor on shoulder..(no problem, odds are that it is benign)...to hearing lung cancer with metastisis to shoulder and large bones… and 12-18 months???

I started logging this “journey” from MY perspective. The thoughts, feeling and poetry from someone who loves someone…who has cancer.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for morphineViews: 857

Wes stayed with me last weekend and is here again vegging out on my couch as we speak….and he has been feeling pretty good! The effects from his chemo came on a little later than usual this time…so he wasnt feeling too good for a while…but he has prevailed. Unfortunately he wasnt feeling good last Thursday night when I invited him to go see Tony Joe White at Workplay in Bham. I went with Jo Ellen and Karen and listened to some good Louisana blues…great show!
Then last Friday morning he was feeling MUCH better and I went to go pick him up. We had a pretty laid back weekend…he took some pics on his motorcyle and looked pretty durn hot! I think he has even put on a few pounds (thank goodness-I thought we were about to be headed to the big woman-skinny man couple..which hey…we are running pretty much neck to neck in that category). LOL I was going to post some pics but I have LOST my USB cord that goes with my camera. I’ll find it though…surely to goodness.
Dave came over and we, well Wes, ended up cooking ribs, dogs and burgers on the grill…and they were yummy.
I asked Wes if I could “buzz” his head…just to make his hair look even from where it has started coming out…but I guess he wants to hold on to every hair. I can understand that (even thought I think it would look great buzzed).
We even got some games of backgammon and cribbage in…and, of course, he wallowed in his victories in both! We have always liked to play games and are very competitive.
Ya know, the last weekend seemed pretty “pre-cancerous”...pretty “normal”. Well with the exception that he always wants to know if I want to “watch” him give himself his daily blood thinner shots in his stomach…”uhhh…no thanks hon…I’ll pass”...unless you want to pick my ass up off of the floor.
His niece, Veronica, brought him over to my house yesterday so we could get in a long weekend before his chemo treatment next week. I worked all day today but after work we drove into town and had Mexican for dinner. He saw his cousin and she gave him a big old bear hug that included some very vigorous pats on his bad shoulder which almost dropped him to his knees. Bless his heart..and hers..she felt so bad.The color immediately drained from his face and he broke out in a sweat…so when we got home he took one of his morphine pills to give him some relief.I think we need to put a big red X on his shoulder…just as a reminder to be a little careful in that area.
Tomorrow we are going over to his cousins house, Joan and Richard, to hang out at the pool, grill and get some more “gaming” in. Looking forward to a good time.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Later…

My oldest son wanted a tattoo and he wanted me to get a matching one, so we got a set of skunks. The skunk is leaning on a “29” and holding a set of two pegs. On father’s day this year I pegged the first skunk since we got our tats. Oh buddy, I crowed like a rooster the rest of the day.

Glad your having good times.
